The coming age of empathic computing | Mark Billinghurst | TEDxUOA
In an era where we have the ability to connect and communicate globally, we have simultaneously created silos rather than bridges between people like us and communities around us. We have reached a Me generation instead of the We generation, where the need for empathy and understanding is more vital than ever before. Therefore, how can we manipulate technological trends to change how we connect with others for the better? Mark is the director of the Empathic Computing Lab, the co-founder of ARToolWorks, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand in recognition of his work on AR commercialisation. He has won numerous national and international awards recognising his global leadership in AR research and commercialisation and earlier this year he joined the Auckland Bioengineering Institute to lead a research team in the field of Empathic Computing, developing technology that will help people to better share their experiences remotely and understand how they are feeling. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
