This talk was recorded live at TEDxEuropeanSustainabilityAcademy Crete, online event, 17.10.2020 Theme: Making sense of climate change on Crete; Taking Action| FOOD Vee Bougani, Co-Founder of the Sustainable Food Movement Greece, focusses on the concerns and actions of how Greece will respond to the climate crisis from the perspective of food production, supply management and policy infrastructure. You may ask, ‘what has the COVID19 pandemic got to do with food wastage in Greece?’ Also ‘how does food waste impact on climate change?’ During August 2020, during the virus pandemic, the ‘World Food Bank’ announced that food trade and food costs have not changed much globally. On the other hand, the UN reported that unemployment, pay cuts and the number of people in need, had nearly doubled. Therefore, how can each of us cut food waste at the same time when there is no money to buy food? Food circularity in Greece is highly dependent on the tourism and hospitality industry, find out why in this talk. www.sustainablegastronomy.eu www.foodity.eu
