Skateboarding for social change and beyond. No limits | Johnny Kalenga | TEDxYouth@Lusaka
Following your dreams and taking the road less traveled can be scary at times. In this talk, Johnny talks about how he overcame his fear and mobilised the global skateboarding community to build the first ever skate park in his country, Zambia. Johnny Kalenga is a youth activist who uses skateboarding to tackle youth delinquency in his hometown through his non-profit WeSkate Mongu. The organisation runs free skateboarding and art lessons every day. Through WeSkate Mongu, Johnny built Zambia’s first skate park, where on average 700 – 1000 children visit every week. Johnny has been nominated for several awards for most inspiring young personalities in Zambia and in Africa. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
