Do we see the world as it really is? | Tony Lambert | TEDxUOA
Seeing is believing, right? Maybe not. Context plays an important role in influencing our visual perception. Therefore, it is important for us to understand how our perceptions and thoughts can be shifted and altered in different circumstances, and thus, enhance our understanding of self and our place in the world as we try to respond to the numerous challenges and threats that confront us in these uncertain times. Tony is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Auckland. He has published widely in the field of cognitive neuroscience, including work on visual perception, attention, and memory. His current work makes use of brain signals, eye tracking and behavioural methods to study the mechanisms that allow us to shift attention rapidly and efficiently from one object to another in a complex visual world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
