BRCC Presents: Ronald “Rondo” Scharfe, WWII Navy Veteran
At 16 years old, Rondo was playing a key role in storming the beaches of Iwo Jima. After World War II, he continued to serve as a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department, where he stayed for 22 years. Rondo has epitomized the phrase “selfless service” throughout his incredible life, and we hope everyone is as inspired by his story as we are.
Shoutout to the Best Defense Foundation, which (among other great things) has a really awesome program for taking veterans back to the battlefields on which they fought. This often helps provide a sense of closure and gives veterans another chance to honor those who fell.
